Customizable Home Plans
We offer affordable customization. We build the home YOU want on YOUR land! Since Compass Homes builds “on your land”, we offer a variety of floor plans that can be adapted to the topography of the buyer’s lot. Plans may be modified to better reflect the unique character of the lot – to take advantage of views, work around mature trees, or benefit from passive solar heat gain.
We maintain a library of plans that can be customized to meet customer needs. Both plans and elevations can be modified to create efficient, workable designs. A number of upgrades and options are available with each plan and the Model Homes Center gives customers an opportunity to experience some of the plans and options. By offering basic designs at a base price that can be customized through upgrades and options, Compass Homes offers affordable customization.
Once a plan is chosen, Compass Homes adds unique features including attractive rounded corners for better wear and an energy efficient wrap. These standard features are added to every house built by Compass Homes. Services are also offered during the building process such as assistance from a pre-construction design specialist, project management during construction, and a final customer walk through and home orientation tour (“HOOT”). Compass Homes’ “on your land” building services make the “on your land” building process easy and enjoyable.
Our Exceptional Home Warranty
Compass Homes offers a one year warranty on all its homes. Two follow up phone calls are made at six months and eleven months to home owners after move-in to arrange any needed warranty repairs. In addition, a 2-10 Home builders Warranty is offered to homeowners. This warranty provides the most comprehensive coverage for systems and appliances, and an industry-leading, insurance-backed structural warranty for new construction.
Just for Realtors
Realtors make their living selling existing properties, facilitating the sale of a home to be built, or helping clients buy undeveloped land. Since Compass Homes has sales possibilities in all these areas, we recognize that developing a strong network with realtors in Madison, Morgan, Jackson, and Limestone counties of North Alabama is critical to our success. Industry experts suggest that at least 30% of “on your land” home building sales should come from outside agents. We value our key relationships with realtors and welcome realtors to:
- Join us for breakfast or lunch meetings at the Design Center and learn more about how “on your land” building works;
- Invite our sales team to visit your office to learn how we can work together to build a home on your client’s land;
- Work with us to sell available land to Compass Homes’ clients looking for land.

Compass Homes is about quality. We use the "Zip System" in the construction of our homes instead of house wrap or felt. This is an innovative structural roof and wall system with an integrated water resistant and air barrier. It is a high quality energy system that results in higher energy efficiency and provides built in protection against air leaks and moisture. We take pride in the quality of every home we build. And our available LP Tech Shield is a radiant barrier sheathing which reduces attic temperatures as much as 30' degrees (F) and reduces monthly air conditioning bills as much as 17%.
Compass Homes also provides short term construction financing for “on your land” clients who cannot qualify for conventional construction loans from a bank. The deed to the land is held by Compass as collateral for the loan. Compass Homes has financed about 50% of all the homes they build.
